lowranceendurasierraAvailable for purchase in July of 2009 is the Lowrance Endura Sierra GPS, marketed as the most powerful out-of-the-box handheld outdoor GPS solution.

This unit is the newest approach to touchscreen GPS design. It comes fully loaded with topographic outdoor maps and content in a very intuitive design with combinations of a touchscreen interface and push buttons, so you select and adapt to the way you want to control the device.

This unit is designed with versatility in mind. You’ll get 4GB of internal memory and an extra slot for additional micro SD memory for the download of maps, pictures, and even MP3 audio files. The pre-loaded content includes Intermap’s AccuterraTM high-resolution topographic maps, extensive outdoor trail networks and interest points, as well as the NAVTEQ® road network for the contiguous 48 states with an option to upgrade to the turn-by-turn navigation system. Also included is optional mapping content including Fishing Hot Spots® and other exclusive national map content. The Lowrance Eudora Sierra also downloads different types of public domain files such as GPX trails, which means you can download GPS coordinates and geographical points of interest for your own personal use directly from the Internet . The unit also comes with an electronic compass and altimeter.
