The Mad River Horizon 17 is a high volume canoe designed for carrying heavy loads on extended canoe camping trips over lakes and wide slow rivers. The Horizon is designed with little rocker, meaning the full length of the hull is in the water, so it tracks well and has good speed enabling it to cover great distance in a straight line with ease.

Horizon's asymmetrical shallow arch hull design features different forward and aft sections creating a longer bow and producing enhanced forward speed and tracking. The Horizon is a pleasure to paddle and is a great Boundary Waters Tripping Canoe.
