Canoeing and Camping at the Pymatuning State Park

At 21,122 acres, Pymatuning State Park is the largest state park in Pennsylvania. And its 17,088 acre Pymatuning Reservoir is the largest lake in Pennsylvania. Pymatuning State Park also has the most campgrounds of any state park in Pennsylvania. The park is located in Jamestown, Pennsylvania.

Canoeing, Kayaking and Boat Rental at Pymatuning State Park
The park has over 17,088 acres of lake paddling opportunity. There are many boat launches along the shores and boat launches at Jamestown Marina and at Manning Boat Launch.. During the summer months the lakes are bustling with boating and other recreational activities. Boat rental includes kayaks, canoes and rowboats. There is also a store that has bait, tackle and snacks.

Camping at Pymatuning
Pymatuning State Park has three camping areas that are open from April through October. The campgrounds are located near swimming, boating, fishing and hiking trails. The Jamestown and Tuttle Campground Campstores have camping supplies, laundry facilities, ice, food and firewood.

Campsite Details

  • Linesville Campground has modern facilities, including showers and flush toilets. Several of the campsites have electricity.
  • Tuttle Campground has showers, flush toilets, electricity, boat launch, playground, camp store and an amphitheater.
  • Jamestown Campground has showers, flush toilets, electricity, boat launch, beach, playground and an amphitheater.

Cabins
The park has twenty modern rental cabins available for year-round use. Five modern rental cabins by the Linesville Campground are open from mid-April to late-October.

Cabins are furnished with a kitchen and dining area, a toilet and shower room and two or three bedrooms. Occupants must bring linens, towels, cookware and tableware.

Fishing at Pymatuning State Park
Species of fish you might encounter are walleye, muskellunge, carp, crappie, perch, bluegill, and largemouth and smallmouth bass. Ohio or Pennsylvania fishing licenses are honored anywhere on the lake, but only Ohio licensed fishermen can fish from the Ohio shore and Pennsylvania licensed fishermen from the Pennsylvania shore.

Swimming
There are swimming available at Linesville and Tuttle, and Jamestown One and Two beaches are open from May to September. The beaches have bathhouses with restrooms.

Natural Area
The Pymatuning State Park has two natural areas. The 725-acre Blackjack Swamp has unique natural communities. And Clark Island has 161 acres of mature hardwood and white pine forest for exploration.
